Spammers

Eric Dobbs heaps a load of vitriol on a spammer. What do you really think Eric?

Denver Post and Weblogs

The Denver Post has started a weblog page called Bloghouse. DenverPost.com's Executive Producer, Gil Asakawa, is writing a weblog, postpop along with Lou from Littleton, lou's insider, Dani Newsum, My Say, and Amy Lewis, rantasia. They've also linked a weblog called Colorado Journal.

Of course Coyote Gulch welcomes all Post participants to the blogosphere and I applaud their initial offerings this week. Being a political junkie and worrier about protecting the U.S. Constitution, the ol' Coyote really like Newsum's post Pledge this from August 19th.

Maybe y'all could give us a bit of history about the Post's decision to add blogger's voices to your publication. How did you choose these particular people? Did they have weblogs before? Are their links and links to their weblogs going to survive past the 60 days in your fair use agreement?

Thanks to the Wozz for pointing to Bloghouse.

2003 Denver Mayoral Transition

Mayor Hickenlooper looks back at his first few weeks in office in this article from the Rocky Mountain News [August 23, 2003, "Mayor says so far, so good"]. From the article, "A month into office, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper has named four of 11 Cabinet members, crafted an overhaul of the city's payroll system and started looking at parking meter rates. For the top positions, he's attracted candidates from inside and outside government and from various ethnic groups. And he's been able to trim salaries along the way. But not everything has been silky smooth. Hickenlooper acknowledges he has had trouble finding the right person for some jobs. He's still mired in the process of picking the city's police chief, even though he initially hoped to decide by early August. And his proposal to revamp the city's system for setting salaries and benefits has met with some vocal resistance." The Rocky also has a listing of appointments here.
