Denver November 2004 Election

Here's an article from the Cortez Journal about this fall's U.S. Senate race. From the article, "U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell has spent nearly five times what other candidates who seek to replace him have even collected. Like the other three candidates in the race, Campbell, a Republican who is seeking his third term in the Senate, did not file his year-end campaign finance report electronically by the Saturday midnight deadline." Where is your weblog, Senator Campbell?

2004 Presidential Election

John Kerry won five of the Super Seven states', primaries or caucauses, yesterday, according to the Denver Post [February 4, 2004, "Kerry Wins 5 States; Clark Wins Oklahoma"]. John Edwards took to prize in South Carolina with Kerry second while Wesley Clark won Oklahoma by a narrow margin. The two states with large Hispanic populations, New Mexico and Arizona, both went for John Kerry, reports the Post [February 4, 2004, "N.M., Arizona solidly back Kerry"]. Here's the coverage from the AP via the Rocky Mountain News [February 4, 2004, "Kerry Wins 5 States; Clark, Edwards Alive"].

For you numbers junkies here are the election results from CNN.com.

BlogsForBush is claiming that the exit polls show that the voters "disapproval of the liberation of Iraq and 'anger' at President Bush." Well they certainly show that the Dems are looking for a candidate to beat the President. I think the voters convictions are probably a bit deeper, don't forget healthcare, the enonomy, judicial appointments, cronyism in dealing with big business, gay and lesbian rights (including marriage), abortion rights, immigration policies, out-sourcing of jobs, corporate scandals, and bullying the Congress and state legislatures across the country. Many issues will be debated over the next few months. Blogs for Bush goes on to name a few of the President's accomplishments. Note: BlogsForBush is not an official Bush/Cheney '04 website.

Mike Littwin writes about how badly the Democrats want someone that can beat President Bush in his column in today's Rocky Mountain News [February 4, 2004, "Littwin: Electability fever soaring for Kerry"]. The editorial staff on the Rocky think that it's time to examine John Kerry's character and beliefs [February 4, 2004, "Time for clarity from the front-runner"].

Update: Clay Shirky analyzes the successes, innovations and failures of the Dean campaign.

Update: Dave Winer: "Next time we, as citizens, decide to endow a candidate with millions of our dollars, let's find out first what they plan to do with it. If they say "run ads" or hire expensive consultants, let's pass. A new term to go with this idea: Voter Support Systems."

Update: The Daily Kos analyzes the performance of the pre-election polls.

Update: Delegate count from the Daily Kos.
