Therapy #2 - And still they keep coming in - excellent!
JF: I am in a manic state. How can I get back to normal FAST!
Well JF it's very simple. I want you to focus on something that causes you to think way outside your self and your own realm of experience, if we were doing therapy together I would ask you a series of questions that did just that - but since you're on the web I will direct you to this philosophy site to answer this questionnaire.
Trust me - it will work. Email me when it does :-)

Fear - I spent the day in a course today and made hasty arrangements for my assistant, Carina to have access to the web via a direct connection to the ADSL modem [very smart move I thought]. But I forgot to install Zone Alarm!
I am now freaking out of my mind imagining all the viral infections her machine has - after spending eight hours connected without protection.
What will I do?

More NetObjects Fusion - If you're unable to schedule me to teach my dynamic "everything you ever needed to know about building website using NetObjects Fusion" course - you can still hone those NetObjects Fusion skills at NetObjects University!

More beer - A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
"In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.
That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers. [Source: Timothy Hyde]

Tech Support blues - I was sucked in - AGAIN. I can't believe that I fall for this everytime.
"Just uninstal the PPPOE application," says the 12 year old tech support 'technician' "Ok," replies the compliant fool.
After restarting my computer 27 times, running the installation wizard of the NetGear FR314 router several dozen times, and switching on the router and modem in various sequences I don't know how many times - MY ROUTER STILL DOES NOT TALK TO THE MODEM.
And to think I keep on following their silly instructions.
In the end I resisted and was escalated four times in a telephone call with NetGear USA tech support team. After dealing with three technicians from somewhere on the sub -continent, I was finally passed through to an American Senior Technician. He didn't know why my router wasn't working either, but strangely I felt better for talking to him. He did after all say the magic word "RMA" - well the magic acronym anyway!
We'll see if it gets fixed.

GoogleStak - I resisted the urge to post yesterday, so as not to hide the GoogleStak article. Thanks to those who took up the cause - if you haven't you can read about our experiment here.
BurningBird writes a great essay on blogs and search engines.

NetObjects Fusion - I loved this product - as a Father loves his own son. It seems to me that Radio has drawn extensively on the simple to use concepts that made NetObjects one of the best web development tools of our age.
Dave: Have you used Fusion?
I had the pleasure, no the privilege, to launch NetObjects Fusion here in Australia and evangelize its cause for the first few months of its life. Sadly it was a product that was ahead of its time, plagued by a reputation that preceded its evolution.
Why is it that good products can be slammed by people that don't really understand their purpose [double meaning intended].

McDonalds Hotel? - The first Golden Arch hotel opened its doors in Switzerland in March last year. How come I only heard about it yesterday? I was read AdNews and read a wonderful article by John Albert, CEO at International Branding Agency, InterBrand. Two gems from the article
"It seems McDonalds is playing a risk-minimization game with its new sub-brand - the Golden Arch is familiar but distinct enough to insulate it from any negative incidents, or indeed failure."
and
"Despite my brandish leanings, I am happy to describe it as a 'once in a life time' experience."
