Having seen the movie Blackhawk Down and not sharing the view that the United States is the source of all evil in the world today, Mickey Kaus’ story in Slate on the mission's background is much more thoughful to consider than the incoherent rant being posted elsewhere.

The other shoe has dropped following Microsoft’s legal battle with the US Justice Department. Armed with the "findings of fact", AOL Time Warner has sued Microsoft for "anticompetitive conduct" in Microsoft's successful bid to quash Netscape, now a AOL Time Warner property.

With two huge companies fighting in court expect this battle for last for years. It could last as long as the never-ending wait for Netscape Version 5.

In what can only be called a comical overreaction Slashdot posted a story informing us that Microsoft has promotional displays with free Windows XP demonstration copies U.S. Post Offices.

I guess the idea of paid placement of advertising never occurred to the person posting the story.
