Sci Fi Wire reports that the WB Network backed by sister cable channels TNT and TBS are buying the TV rights to the Lord of Rings movie trilogy for an estimated $160 million dollars. The three networks will rights to the movies for various periods over the next 10 years. All three networks are owned by AOL Time Warner, which also owns New Line Cinema, which produced the movies.

Sounds like taking money from one pocket to put into another.

In an example of fuzzy logic the Christian Science Monitor argues that the Israeli government’s decision to build physical barriers between Jerusalem and the West Bank will lead to a complete Israeli reoccupation of the West Bank. How a wall could do that is not explained. That fact that this wall could serve as a prototype between Israel and a Palestinian State in the West Bank and Gaza is not considered at all.
