The Jerusalem Post’s Digital Israel section reports on the foreign companies expressing interesting in constructing and operating the Tel Aviv Mass Transit System due to be open in 2009. At 4 billion NIS (about $1 billion US) it will be one of three major projects worth $5 billion to be built. The other projects are the Cross-Israel Highway, the Tel Aviv Metro and the Carmel Tunnel. One bidder may be the Canadian Highways Corporation International, which is building the Cross-Israel Highway, following the successful completion of Highway 407, north of Toronto, Canada.
Did you know that the battery powered transponders for the 407 die after about 2 years?
