The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) has announced (Toronto Star, Globe and Mail) that a design by Daniel Libeskind has won the competition for the rebuilding of the Museum. Described as encasing the ROM in an iceberg it involving replacing the northern Bloor St. side with a new angular glass entrance. The cost for the reconstruction which is the centerpiece of the Renaissance ROM Project is estimated at $200 million, Canadian with public and private funds being used. Libeskind’s previous works include the Jewish Museum in Berlin. Kind of cool, now Toronto joins the Edifice Complex movement.
