CBS.MarketWatch.com commentator Chris Pummer has some words to say about technology companies that promise more then what they can deliver or are just trying to deceive you. From AOL’s takeover of a user’s machine to overpriced RAM installations he touches on some good points.

Xbox maker Flextronics reported its 3rd quarter profits today. At $82 million or 16 cents a share the company met earning expectations. It had revenues of $3.45 billion, up from $3.2 billion in the year-earlier period and just above the First Call estimate of $3.4 billion. In addition to Xboxes, Flextronics also makes cellular telephones, PDAs, and other electronic goods for various companies to sale under their brand names 

Xbox + PDA = XPocket anyone?

The US military has changed its position on requiring female soldiers to wear abaya veils when off base. While the issue has been brought to the forefront by a lawsuit by the US Air Force's highest-ranking female fighter pilot the military claims the change was made independently of her constitutional concerns. Females still have to be accompanied by a man when off the base, and ride in the back seat of vehicles.

Critics of this policy wonder how Colin Powell would have felt if the US needed an army base in apartheid South Africa and these rules applied to him.
