Canadian Tech Update (New Feature!)

Nortel

Following this week’s earning restatement Nortel has placed its chief financial officer and controller on paid leave pending completion of an independent review of the company's financial results. It’s stock was immediately hit ending the day down more than 18 per cent in Toronto, falling $1.60 to $6.98, taking with it more than $6 billion in market capitalization.

The key concern is this the last earning restatement or are there more coming?

Research in Motion

A financial analyst in Florida looks at Research in Motion concluding that if estimated growth rates are correct the stock is overpriced.

ATI Technologies

The Inquirer reports that ATI’s upcoming R420 chip will have 12 pipelines and run at about 500 Mhz using GDDR3 memory. Whether these details are accurate or not is not known.
