"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

I don't understand why people say exit polling was inaccurate in Florida in 2000. Gore swept the state, based on the intentions of voters. Was it thousands or tens of thousands of voters who were defeated by the butterfly ballot and the wrong instructions to "vote on every page"?

Fact is, we would be better served by following the exit polls than by using wretchedly designed balloting systems. (Don't get me started on electronic voting systems provided by corrupt Republican Corporations with bribery scandals and campaign contributions to key state legislatures.)

And *that's* where we need one journalist to find out why VNS pulled the plug on its 2002 exit polling. The obvious reason is that exit polls are the only possible evidence of electronic vote theft, and there were plenty of suspicious events in the 2002 elections. If you had the exit polls, you would have empirical evidence that something went wrong.

So let's see. VNS is owned by media corporations. Media corporations are mostly owned and run by Republicans. GE's Jack Welch issued direct orders to say Bush won Florida in 2000, for example. GE benefits *enormously* from Bush's Star Wars fraud and corporate welfare. GE will probably earn enough extra on Star Wars to pay for losses in a TV network. I'm saying they have motive, means, and opportunity to rig election results, and cover up for voter fraud. Besides motive, means, and opportunity, we know exactly that they did it in Florida in 2000.

In the 2002 elections we have widespread use of computerized election machines with unaudited code and procedures, selected by politicians who received campaign contributions and/or bribes from Republican-run corporations. And there are any number of suspect results, which the VNS exit polls could have confirmed or disproved. But VNS Republican Corporations decided at the highest levels to pull the plug. Jack Welch is history, but the game goes on.

I'm not *really* saying that Rove and Reed stole Georgia and conspired with one or two Republican Criminal Media Executives to cover it up by stopping the exit polls. I'm saying that with exit polls and paper ballots we could verify what happened. Instead of that, we have Republican Corporations bribing their way into a position where there is no accountability for elections.

This is absolutely intolerable.

Here's yet another article on unauditable voting machines [citypaper.com].
