"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

Just because you made a decision that let terrorists kill more than three thousand people on September 11, that doesn't mean you shouldn't get a presidential "exceptional performance award".

Marion (Spike) Bowman, head of the FBI's National Security Law Unit is a key figure. He's the guy who's wrong interpretation of national security law prevented the Minneapolis office of the FBI from getting a search warrant for Zacarias Moussaoui. While it appears that Moussaoui wasn't associated with the September 11 attacks, he apparently had enough contact information so the FBI could have rounded up the hijackers, if Marion (Spike) Bowman hadn't protected Moussaoui.

We have hints that the White House got the FBI to back off of investigations of Bin Laden and other terrorist-supporting Saudis. Was Marion (Spike) Bowman following Bush's direction when he protected Moussaoui? That's the most interesting question.

Marion (Spike) Bowman is the guy who told FBI agents they needed to study FISA procedures carefully. How come Marion (Spike) Bowman didn't study those procedures? Or did he?

Is Marion (Spike) Bowman a traitor? Is Marion (Spike) Bowman incompetent? Did Marion (Spike) Bowman protect Moussaoui on orders from Bush people? Did Marion (Spike) Bowman spike the reports sent by French intelligence? Maybe someone spiked his coffee that day? What is up with Marion (Spike) Bowman?

If the man who protected Moussaoui gets an award and not unemployment compensation, but the woman who would have prevented the September 11 attacks was sabotaged by a quick media blizzard, what are we to think? Yeah, the award could be perfectly reasonable. Marion (Spike) Bowman is probably really sorry that 3,000 people died because of his wrong direction.

Americans should know what really happened. The September 11 Commission can be judged by whether they get the truth out of Marion (Spike) Bowman. Were documents shredded? Were emails deleted? Were there informal communications from White House officials? Were there orders from within the FBI?

Most remarkable! Thomas Kean -- the new head of the September 11 commission -- has business ties with Osama Bin Laden's brother-in-law. The 9/11 Families United to Bankrupt Terrorism are suing two of Kean's business partners. See Chossudovsky [globalresearch.ca].

The Bush cronies making wild claims about the dangers of Saddam's weapons... isn't this the same bunch that lied to us about the Soviet Union's weapons in order to rake in the dough on military expenditures and fraud?

Can anybody make an argument that we should trust them?

Bush won't pressure North Korea. Only North Korea can justify the gazillion-dollar thievery which is Star Wars. That's why Bush provoked North Korea into its current course.

Doonesbury has it right today: "In Iraq a mother's anguish. 'I have not seen him in months. They came in the middle of the night and took him away. They refused to tell me what he was accused of. He has no lawyer. I don't even know where he's being held -- or if I'll ever see him again!

"Just kidding about Iraq."

Welcome to fascism in America. A disgrace.

Zeldman switches to OS X: "Because of the way OS X manages memory, you never have to quit your most-used programs." This is small praise for an operating system in 2002. The state of the art is not good.
