"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

I'd like to think that Kissinger decided he's better off keeping a low profile. A man wanted in several countries just shouldn't provoke the masses.

A more optimistic view is that Dr. Strangelove is smart enough to know when there are so many smoking guns he might not be able to cover them all up.

More likely, he just wants to keep his company out of the news. Apparently it's some kind of fascism consulting service, with a roster of Bush-crony conspirators who help run coup d'etats, terrorism, genocide, and such.

When Eagleberger (in the State Department at the time) was protecting Milosevich, was Strangelove, Inc. helping plan the cleansing operations or the public relations? When Eagleberger joined The Company, did he consult with Milosevich on cleansing Kosovo?

In official power, Kissinger engineered the mass-murder of hundreds of thousands in East Timor. Did he come back as a contractor to continue the Good Work through the eighties and nineties?

How about Venezuela? Reich had to be a little careful running things from the White House. Maybe Kissinger's people provided more hands-on guidance. Hmmm. Who brought in the murderers to provide the spark for the first coup d'etat?

As long as the Kissinger client-list is secret, we won't know what they were up to.

Rumsfeld complains the US doesn't have any program for inserting our agenda into the media of allies and neutral countries.

In previous times, we had Democracy, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, Freedom of Speech, Liberty, Opportunity, Prosperity, Peace, the Pursuit of Happiness, clean air, clean water, relatively little political corruption, etc.

Now that the Bush team has changed all that, we need black-ops programs to do to foreign media what they've done with the Republican Corporate Media here.

They shot Jack, and Bobby, and MLK Jr., and instead we get Rumsfeld and Ashcroft and Reich and Cheney and all the Bush cronies. Every day we watch while America dies from their treasonous, hate-filled poison. They'll use what's left of the United States to destroy everything else. With their pollution, they can even destroy the Earth's ecology.

But with the Emperor's Clothes effect, Rumsfeld can say things like this in public and not be exiled or hanged.

The optimistic viewpoint is "pride comes before the fall". But what pain they will cause in the meantime!

licentious radio calls for Ashcroft's resignation. Openly racist comments on the record are intolerable for a position that requires enforcement of laws for all citizens of the United States.

So what else can we say about Lott? Now that Nickles is openly in on the attacks, it's harder to deny Rove's orchestration. Motive: obvious. Means: obvious. Opportunity: obvious.

There's still a tricky part to this. I mean, say Nickles convinces the Senate that somebody who makes open remarks based on his racism shouldn't be the Senate leader, what about someone who openly makes anti-homosexual remarks? That would pretty much rule out the entire current generation of Southern Republican Senators -- with Nickles at the front of the line.

And again, this is the one place where "liberal bias" can come into play. If the Republican Corporate Media can't bury the story completely, there aren't many pundits -- even on Fox -- who will openly stand for lynching and segregation, or even beatings and murder of gays.

What I like was the notion from "White House sources" that the Lott story didn't disappear because there wasn't enough war news. Democrats should force Rove and his thugs out. Hyping war to subvert democracy should be the end of anyone's career.

But I guess we can expect Rove to learn from his mistake, and when Nickles takes over the Senate there will be plenty of war news to keep Nickles' anti-gay hate-mongering out of the Republican Corporate Media's attention.

And maybe it's only wishful thinking that anti-gay hate-mongering will have the same impact today as anti-black hate-mongering.

A final fun tidbit was "White House sources" revealing that Lott had asked for Rice and Powell to make statements supporting him and they wouldn't. The sources said it was "clumsy" to ask. First, that's fun as part of Rove's campaign to knife Lott. Second, it's fun because you get to hope that Rice and Powell have some actual integrity. But it's fun, third, because you figure that Rice and Powell would have had to support Bush or a Bush insider. After all, even if Bush goes around reading to and petting little black children in front of cameras, when the cameras go off he whacks any program that supports black children and not the military. And Rove's racist hate-mongering is legendary. Racist is as racist does -- Bush if *far* more effective at promoting racist policies than Lott. You don't see Lott's brother denying the right to vote to blacks, for another example. But Condi and Colin are still there supporting the agenda.
