"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

Would-be Democratic presidential nominees: talk is cheap, and we're watching. Show us your stuff. Show us what you're made of. Are you going *fight*, or are you going to wait around until maybe you win the election.

The world needs fighters. Now.

You want support, block every judicial nomination until Bush sends only reasonable candidates. You want support, scrap the fascist TIA and PATRIOT Act. You want support, force the Bin Laden business partner Bush appointed head of the September 11 Commission to resign. Force White to resign. Demand progress on the anthrax investigations. Work with the military and intelligence communities to stop the war on Iraq.

All these things would have been easier if you had been *fighting* last year. But you played dead and let Bush rape the world. Now you gave up control of the Senate, so you can't call hearings. Because you didn't *fight*.

The good news is Lieberman is running. All you have to do is do the opposite of whatever he does.

So put up or shut up.

[11:33:53 AM]
Time to march for peace. Does it matter? Yes. The long arc of history bends toward justice. We learn over time. We agree more and more that war is to be avoided, even if it is war to grab oil and help Bush steal another election.

licentious radio is optimistic that Blair's support for Bush is primarily to buy influence in order to postpone the war until it just goes away.

The Bush people may be evil, but they are also incompetent. Not getting permission to stage ground forces in Turkey is a huge defeat for the war-mongers. Despite the relentless war propaganda by the Republican Corporate Media, even the average American can tell that the story is phony.

When hundreds of thousands of us march, even the New York Times has to mention it. As the story gets out, our fellows realize that the war is a bad idea.

As the article below points out, our closest allies against the war are the professionals in the military and the intelligence community. This is a *stark* contrast with previous wars. These professionals see Bush's manipulations of war for political gain, and resist it.

As citizens, we must do our part -- provide clear evidence that American stand for peace and justice, against a war for political gain and to seize oil.

This is also in our interest for personal safety. We need for Arab/Islamic communities to realize that the people of the United States are not the enemy. The way we demonstrate that, is to bring appropriate pressure on government to change its ways -- stop the war on Iraq, and deal correctly with terrorists. The way to deal with terrorists is to isolate them, by proving to the masses that the United States is a symbol of hope, not evil.

Let's go for justice and peace, and solving problems, not provoking more. Let's cut out this SUV business, bring on conservation, and promote democracy and prosperity in the world, not fascism, hatred, and poverty.

A US invasion of Iraq can be stopped [commondreams.org].
