"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

In a nasty, dirty low-blow, Krugman accuses the Bush people of a lack of incompetence! You can hear the leak-machine already: "No, we're really incompetent. Only an Al Qaeda sympathizer would accuse us of competence."

Well, Krugman just pointed out that the latest Bush tax scam is even worse than it appears, because it's so complicated that only rich people will be able to buy tax advice to get the benefit. And it's so complicated that the IRS will never be able to enforce the rules adequately. So anybody with access to top-flight "above and beyond the law" accounting (like DICK Cheney got from Andersen) will be able to cheat, cheat, cheat. It's the next best thing to re-incorporating offshore.

Ah, Krugman, we hardly knew ye. Anyone strips away the fig leaf of phony incompetence is obviously an enemy combatant. You think it's *incompetence* that provoked North Korea?

Happy Monday, digital campers! There's great news everywhere you look. Outside our window, the day is warm and sunny.

licentious radio's pick for Media Whore of the Year won! Yes, Woodward did all the really hard work, but we're thrilled to have had our vote *counted*.

Our old friend Marion (Spike) Bowman is back in the buzz with his boss, Robert Mueller, taking sixth place in the Idiot of the Week contest.
