News -- Photos vividly show impact of light pollution:

Comment -- Pictures of North American Nebula in Cygnus were taken with the same camera/lense for the same 2 minute exposure. One under Seattle suburban skies, the other 50 miles from the
nearest road. As you can tell, it makes a huge difference getting out of town away from light pollution.

News -- New report says Michigan gets only a D plus grade for making college affordable: http://measuringup.highereducation.org/2002/s_r_c23.cfm

Comment -- Michigan gets a B grade, however, for preparing students for college. California was the only state to get an A grade in college affordability. A New York Times article summarizes the study (http://www.nytimes.com/2002/10/02/education/02EDUC.html). The article notes that lots of kids start college, but few finish.
