News - As if there aren't enough things to worry about, this article from
Wired magazine gripes about American "cultural dominance":

Comment -Here's a quote from the article, which complains about how American
movies, food and entertainment are crushing precious local cultural
traditions: "The fury of the terrorists (the 9/11 attacks) - and of the
alarming number of people around the world who viewed the attacks as a
deserved comeuppance for an arrogant, out-of-control superpower - is sparked
in part by a sense that America is imposing its lifestyle on countries that
don't want it."
The nitwit reporter has obviously no sense of history. Napoleon conquered
countries, put his relatives in charge of local governments and imposed
French law on the captive peoples. Now that's imposing a lifestyle.
The Nazis murdered Jews and gave their houses and businesses to party
loyalists and army officers. Now that's imposing a lifestyle.
The Russian Communists abolished religion and deported ethnic minorities to
the Gulag. Now that's imposing a lifestyle.
Letting people in other countries have the opportunity, of their own free
will, to purchase jeans, hamburgers and movies tickets to "Harry Potter" is
not what I call imposing a lifestyle.
