News: A guy at astronomy club brought his new 18-inch Obsession telescope to
our meeting last night. It was really a nice instrument with a huge mirror.
By comparison, my ETX is only a five-inch and the Dawdy scope is an
eight-inch. Of course, an Obsession does not come with computerized GOTO
capability -- but you can add it for only $2,500!
Comment: Obsession is a line of very large Dobsonian telescopes that are
designed to be easily disassembled and transported to observing sites. Check
out this crazy picture of a guy who attached a 15-inch Obsession finder
scope to the side of his 36-inch Obsession:

News: Read "A Merry Chocolate Christmas":

Comment: Here's a sample - "Twas the night before Christmas and all round my
hips, Were Fannie May candies that sneaked past my lips. Fudge brownies were
stored in the freezer with care, In hopes that my thighs would forget they
were there."
News - Sick of Windows ME (eh, Jane?) or just tired of sending money to Bill
Gates? Get over to WalMart and try a "Lindows"-based computer:

Comment - The article linked above explains what Lindows is and how it is
different from Windows. The author says Lindows seemed to work pretty well
for him. But it seems to me that Lindows still is oriented to
computer-tinkerers rather than the general public.
