QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND
"The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you're still a rat."

RHINO HERE: First off, this week the Rhino's News Blog Website received a "2002-2003 Golden Web Award". If you haven't checked out the website, there's a search engine allowing you to pull up past Rhino Blogs from keywords or phrases. There's also a growing list of web links. Check it out at:

Looking for some humor this weekend, I can't help but ponder the president coming to Los Angeles, fresh from events touting his new anti-corporate corruption thread, but campaign stumping for candidate for California Governor, Bill Simon, who's company was recently fined millions of dollars for its blatant rip off schemes. No one's in love with current Democratic Gov. Gray Davis. I even know many Democrats who were ready to vote for former L.A. mayor Richard Riordan, but Simon beat him in the primary leaving a shady compromising Democratic incumbent and a shadier "caught with his pants down and incriminating memos published" business rip off artist:

And now here comes Shrub this weekend calling Simon "a breath of fresh air for California". Supposedly Shrub agreed to support Simon but wont take any pictures with him. Too bad. Down the line Simon would probably appreciate having one to hang on his cell wall.
Just thinking, if Kenneth Lay or one of these other pension fund thieves who find themselves with 10 or 20 or 100 million dollars in their bank accounts, if one of them decided to use the money to do some good works in the world, maybe they could be forgiven. Ya know, true compassionate conservatives. You can say a prayer for that but I don't suggest holding your breath.
This week, Ariana Huffington, everyone's favorite turncoat Republican, wrote an inspired column trying to put the billions of stolen dollars currently in question into some perspective, "Scandal Fatigue: Putting The Corporate Crime Wave Into Perspective":
