Woodworking vs Bitworking

Posting has been light over the weekend as I traded in Bitworking for woodworking. The corner of the dining room that houses the computer was rather unsightly: Exhibit A.

I had an idea for shelving that would solve our storage problems so I made a quick sketch on Saturday to try to sell the idea to Lynne: Exhibit B.

After getting her approval I bought the wood and on Sunday afternoon had it assembled and stained. Lynne gave it two coats of polyurethane today and this evening we were able to install it: Exhibit C.

SVG 1.1

30 April 2002: W3C is pleased to announce the advancement of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) 1.1 and Mobile SVG to Candidate Recommendations. [W3C]

SVG is important and I wish it had wider deployment. I frequently work on memory and CPU constrained platforms that still need to provide web services. SVG allows producing a rich interface to data and being just XML it makes it easier to generate SVG on the fly, at least easier and less memory intensive than generating PNGs on the fly.

Save the receipts

Congrats to James Snell on finding out they're having a baby girl this summer.

Note: Keep all the receipts. We had 5 ultrasounds with my first child, two of them were level-2 grade scans. We were told it was a girl. We had a lot of pink clothes and sheets and decorations to put into storage when my son was born. We have since had two more boys. No girls. Still got the pink stuff in the attic.
