Someone in my address book got the email shown below. No, no, no. I didn't go over to the dark side, lose my mind, and say "But Email Marketing makes sense!!!! And let me sell my friends out". This looks like a classic .VBS exploit using my Outlook address book. Somehow I don't think so -- there may be something different at work here. I run a minimum of 2 levels of virus protection at all times as well as a daily scan (that now takes > 5 hours to complete with over 240 gigs of storage). And I'd like to think that I'm smart enough to NOT click on a VBS script. I've also been thru my entire sent items folder and there isn't any record of a script sending emails with my address book entries. I have recently had the Outlook Preview Pane on (dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb!!!! I know better) and I'm wondering if it's a JavaScript exploit. Outlook 9.0.0.271 is the version I'm running. I did move all my contacts into a folder off contacts so that should hopefully prevent future exploits.
So I don't know what's going on. If anyone else gets this -- I apologize greatly and in advance. Anyone else have any ideas?

Hello -
A few months ago, a good friend of mine,
Scott Johnson, called me claiming to have
his hands on a great money-making opportunity.
I couldn't help but laugh to myself:
Not another one, I thought. Over the years,
he has had quite a reputation for finding
"great opportunities" that end up emptying
his bank account.
Another interesting point was that he said
he was doing it completely over the internet.
Anyhow, since he said that I could join the
program as a free member and begin to build a
downline at the same time, I thought, "Why not?"
I checked out the links to the website and
casually followed his progress.
To my amazement, he was actually sponsoring
people and making money. Even though I was very
skeptical, I was intrigued as to the extent to
which his sponsor helped him build his business.
I became even more amazed when I found out that
he received a commission for $500 during his
third month with the program.
Besides the ability as a Free Member to save
money on many items, I like the fact that other
members begin building the Free Member's downline.
It's a win-win proposition, and if you for some
reason don't like it, you can cancel your free
membership at any time.
Even though he has been in it for just six
months, his monthly commission is now
$1,500 -- amazing, to say the least. I made
$50 my first full month, $250 my second, another
$250 my third, and then $750 just last month.
It would be insane for you to join without checking
it out first, but you can join as a free member
and investigate everything thoroughly before deciding
whether or not you would like to pursue this.
Without a doubt, if I had known about this
program earlier, I would have joined immediately.
This club is perfect for anyone who uses the Internet.
Many people are making $500, $1,000, $5,000, and much
more each month. I made $250 in my second month.
Ok, that's hardly a fortune, but not bad for my
second month.
It would be insane for you to join without checking

Like me, you also can become a Free Member so that
you can begin to check out the club and see if it is
something you would be interested in. Maybe it's for
you, and maybe it isn't, but it certainly wouldn't hurt
to check it out.
To get a FREE ID#, simply reply to: Timj6g4@yahoo.com
and write this phrase exactly - word for word:
"Email me details about the club's business and consumer
opportunities."
Be sure to include your:
1. First name
2. Last name
3. Email address, if different from above
Then you will just need to wait until you here from me
in order to confirm your membership. I will confirm your
position and send you a special report as soon as possible,
along with your Free Member Number.
I'll get you entered and let you know how you can keep
track of your growing downline.
That's all there is to it.
I'll then send you more information, and you can make
up your own mind.
Warm regards,
Tim Hopkins
P.S. After having several negative experiences with
network marketing companies, I had pretty much given up
on them. This company is different: It offers value,
integrity, and a REAL opportunity to have your own
home-based business and finally make money on the internet.
Don't pass this up. You can sign up and test drive the
program for FREE. All you need to do is get your free
membership.
