Well I'm To See the Source... The Wonderful World of Source...
Well my WiFi card does work yet, I'm behind on email, etc, etc, etc. Still I have a server side blog and a quasi working laptop and a digital camera so I'm ready for OSCON (O'Reilly Open Source Convention)!!! If you're there, look for me in shorts, sandals and one of a number of classic geek tshirts (Dataware, Netscape, NTERGAID and, to be controversial, John Wiley and Sons (hey! it's an O'Reilly conference and I'm a Wiley author too, only makes sense).

How to Make a Geek Feel Good
Here's something that makes a geek feel really, really good:
- Spend a weekend slaving over a hot keyboard writing code that's been in your head since at least 1999.
- Get it mildly, barely working.
- Show it to two people you respect and have both say to you, almost immediately, "I Want It".
- Know that since it's GPL'd (or will be once it's not version 0.0001.a.Sunday.Morning.AfterBreakfast) it will get some level of wide distribution.
I feel good.
Comment: Sorry for all the really short entries over the past 2 days but I'm in hard core code grind (the scenario above is a) real and b) just happened to me) and can't break free to write anything longer right now but I have some good stuff planned for the plane flight to OSCON.

Cool! Themes for Drupal
My friend in Indonesia, Joe Friend (no joke afaik), is looking at Drupal for a project and commented on the lack of themes. He's right -- but this isn't the product, it's just an issue of themes not being created. Drupal is currently largely in use by us geekier folk and pretty themes tend not to be our priority. But it's important to understand that Drupal has a great theming architecture -- one PHP file controls all look and feel issues. So I asked www.natrak.net for examples of Dupal sites with different themes and here's the list:

Sounds Cool: Business Plan Archive.
To help us learn from history, we are creating the Business Plan Archive (BPA) to collect business plans and related documents from the dot com era -- the "blueprints" that lay out the assumptions and strategies of Internet entrepreneurs.

Cool! Paolo Made DayPop!!!
Neat. Paolo's Shared Outline story made DayPop.
Note: Both go to the same place but DayPop's ranking doesn't seem to take into account their own redirects (which is kinda silly).
