Maritime Disaster! - Cargo ship sinks in Channel; 3,000 BMWs feared dead [via FARK]

TiVo Changed My Life - several friends have called me to speak in hushed tones about the merits of TiVo.  The hushed tones were so that their spouse wouldn't overhear.  It appears that the gift of TiVo often comes silently and without warning.  And of course I said nothing to dissuade my curious friends from the purchase of the TiVo.

No these hushed toned callers got my, soon-to-be patented, well-honed five minute spiel about how TiVo took me from a state of fallen ungrace to ethereal and blissful peace.  To use Doc Searls' phrase, I have "accepted TiVo as my personal saviour."  But getting other people to see the light is not easy.   I was once lost too (can you hear the faint strains of Amazing Grace in the background?) and I know that seeing the light is not easy when you live in the dark (of course, you'd think --from a physics perspective-- that the light would stand out clearly if you were in the dark, but apparently not).  People just don't want to be saved, I guess.

And, what's hard to deal with is that I've got my TiVo pitch down to a finely honed rant that Ron Popeil would be proud of.  Its got the timing and dramatic pacing of a sideshow carnival barker.  And yet it doesn't really seem to have the impact that I'm looking for.  So I decided that perhaps something more erudite and theatrical would be impactful.  Hence, my three act play, entitled --plainly enough-- TiVo Changed My Life.

I'll be waiting by the phone for a theatre agent to call me for perhaps some additional playwriting on spec.  I think that short plays about technological products are going to be all the rage, and I'm sure the wave will start in London first.  I have a story about my system tray that I think I can retool if I have to...
