The Ski Boy and I puttered out of Sarasota around 10:30 AM this morning. Our plan was to make our way down I-75 to Fort Meyers with a short detour to do the Charlie's Wrath geocache in C M Webb Wildlife Management Area.

Well, getting to the nature preserve proved to be quite the challenge. We did not have a map that actually showed the nature preserve. So, we used the GPS. Which was a mistake - the GPS wanted to figure out the shortest way to the cache - which is very different than the right way to the Wildlife Preserve.

We bounced around some pretty nasty dirt roads in our little Chevy Cavalier rental car. We slogged by small hovel like houses with broken down cars and refrigerators in the front yard (reminded me of Alaska!). We even found the place where tractor trailer containers go to die.

Peter kept humming Dueling Banjos (the theme song to the movie, Deliverance).

We finally gave up and made our back to I-75 - where five minutes later we passed the exit sign for the management preserve. sigh...

We're going to try again tomorrow on our way back to Sarasota.
