On Monday evening, Peter, Scott, and I hiked up Arctic Valley to Clem's geocache Oh My Darlin' Clementine. The purpose of our expedition was to scatter some of Clemmie's ashes at the cache site. Arctic Valley was Clemmie's favorite place in the whole world. So, it was only fitting that we leave a bit of her there.
It was an absolutely stunning fall evening. One of the prettiest fall days I can remember. Which made the occasion even more special. And with the loyal Ski Boy and Scott as companions, the evening was pretty much perfect.
The cache is actually located in cliffs on a steep mountain side. It was definitely a bit of a haul for the out of shape Slat Rat. But, it was so worth it.
I'm afraid I didn't say anything memorable, or anything really at all, when I scattered the ashes. I was afraid of totally breaking down. I just did my best to pick a good spot and do the scattering without falling off the cliff. There was a bit of wind, so the ashes just took off. I think Clemmie would have been very happy with the location.
And I left some more greenies for her in the cache. So, if she gets hungry, she's got a munchie or two.
Below are several pictures. The light and the colors that evening were absolutely amazing. I don't think I've ever taken a set of pictures like this before. None of them were enhanced with photoshop - no cropping, no color adjusting. Just the straight shots.
Scattering the ashes.
You can actually see the wisp of the ashes.
I love this picture - the light is amazing. Compositionally, it may be one of the best pictures I've ever taken.

Here I am, parked on the slope near the cache.
