Two years ago right around this time, I flew to Kansas the day after the 2004 Presidential Election. That was a very depressing flight. I was surrounded by Bush celebrants. It was tough.
Fast forward to today. A very different flying experience. Heck, this morning, while I was in the Seattle Alaska Airlines Board room, Rummy resigned between the time I got up to toast a bagel and then sat back down. Wow.
The Alaska Gubernatorial election did not turn out the way I had hoped. But maybe there will be a silver lining - she exposes openness and transparency in government. My favorite candidate was Andrew Halcro - a Republican running as an independent. He's very good - he's the way Republicans used to be - smart, libertarian bent, grounded in reality, etc.
However, I have to say that the changes on the national front temper my Alaskan depression.
I do like this cartoon. It's cute.
