Egads. One more reason I should be living in the south Pacific.

Here's a thumbnail to show you what it looks like, because I cannot believe how lovely this is." [whirlagig]

Figuring that ESR got the link from Ms. McArdle, I tried the sminds thing with her e-mail:

I don’t like saying octopuses. But you can not say octopi. Octopus when speaking of the family in general. Octopods may be best. Too many S’s make my skin crawl. How does one stress octopuses anyway? Saying those last two syllables would make me feel uncomfortable. Why am I obsessing over this word? Octopods are solitary beasts for the most part. Nrgh. More on cephalapods.

I am continuing to look over the livejournal thing. Neil Gaiman is in there; so is George Chan. So is Squeak Smalltalk.

Where I met Neil is no longer a smoking pile of ash, but I still haven’t crossed Broadway yet.

I saw George Chan at Pri—CostCo last week with his family, and chose not to intrude.

Ever since Yahoo! stopped e-mail POP access, I’ve been less inclined to work in Smalltalk.

Ha! Look what I found: My LiveJournal   weblog. I could have sworn that I had started it after the World Trade Center incident.

Obviously business was slow then. I am looking at all that text and all I can think of is, wow! I had that much time to write? Oh, wait, I wasn’t writing my daily work-logs then. Oh, wait, I’m not doing that now. Why did I stop off writing? Well, look at all that text—perhaps I started thinking of the thing as obligatory.

Now if only I could remember my password.
