Federal Election time in Canada, and here is a quick and dirty summary of the major political party websites:
The NDP, and Jack Layton
The good news is the easy to remember website address. The bad news is the Kentucky Fried Chicken product placement. I thought the NDP were against saturated fats?
UPDATE: The NDP website seems to have removed the KFC icon that was there yesterday and this morning. Oh well I saved the screenshot.
The Liberal Party or Team Martin
The website has a great look and feel. It is centered all on the news. As a matter of fact, you might be fooled into thinking you are reading a news related website. Not just about the Prime Minister, the party gives a lot of space to candidates, and volunteers.
Conservative Party of Canada
Everything the Liberal site has, except in blue instead of red. I actually think they mention Paul Martin on this website, more that the Liberals mention him on theirs. Not much is mentioned about the Canadian Alliance heritage. I really liked the attempt at using a Blog or diary. However, it only works when they get personal.
Bloc Quebecois
Well I can only find one of the official languages done here. I am sure you can guess which one. All ther sites talked about above have both offical languages. I suppose that is another way of stating a policy.
Christian Heritage Party of Canada
Putting together a website like the main parties do, can cost a big chunk of change. Obviously I think it is worth it. The Christian Heritage Party cannot hope to spend that kind of bread. So clearly their website is not as polished as the Liberals/ Conservatives or even the NDP.
Green Party of Canada
I think the Greens would like to put across the idea that they are simple. I mean that in a good way. A simple to understand platform, and a simple website to match. They are not really missing the content, just a lot less razzle dazzle. I think it is intentional, and it just might work for them.
The Rhinoceros Party of Canada never really got their act together. Perhaps we might see a uniting with the Procrastination Party in the future. They might get to that next election. P>
If I didn't mention your favorite, I am sorry. This is just a summary. Look here for a better, more complete list.
