From the article: "[Telewest] has now pledged to take more active steps to address the issue, which its says it regards as 'very serious'. Telewest says it is accelerating efforts to fix the problem. [It] is scanning its network for open NNTP (news) relays, which it will expand to cover all types of proxy servers (HTTP, mail etc.) that could be used by third parties to abuse its customers' service."
"Accelerating efforts" is industry code for "huh? what did you say the problem was again?"

Okay, it's time for pop-up ads to stop. It's not because they're ads, or because they clutter up the taskbar, or because they distract the reader.
It's time for them to stop because they break navigation. While the ad pops up, I can't Alt-LeftArrow to navigate back in the history, or scroll down the page with DownArrow. If it's a pop-over rather than pop-under, it steals the focus so I have to click on the parent window in order for it to receive keyboard input.
Stop using popup ads! It breaks your reader's browser!
