Stuckists

The Stuckist Net - what is your post-Palladium future?. Multiple TCPAs, and continental drift [The Register]

Another great one from Andrew Orlowski.  I identify with his dystopian future.  I'm gonna buy the fastest, nicest pre-Palladium hardware I can find and run Red Hat on it for the rest of my life (or until the system regains some balance, whichever comes first).

Perhaps Stuckists could get a parallel wireless Internet up and running across the country.  802.11 is just the first example of networking technology to successfully exploit unlicensed spectrum.  Future technologies will employ mesh topologies and other features to decentralize the network.  Encrypted links traversing the Corporate Internet might help plug coverage holes (but watch those Terms of Service agreements).

The vision of Stuckists running Open Source software on their Stuckist Indian PCs plugged into Stuckist Wireless Gateways chattering away on unlicensed spectrum is very appealing.  Individualists and academics and entrepreneurs built an open Internet once.  Maybe they can do it again.
