Apple Anoints KDE

in the buzz.... WaSP: Safari: Fast, Incomplete"We held our breath for a day as Web citizens took Apple's new Safari browser for a test drive..."  [via A Frog in the Valley] [jenett.radio]

Boy was I stunned to read (on Apple's site) that their new browser, Safari, is based on KDE's Konqueror!  That's a huge win for KDE, and it means great things for Konqueror going forward.  Apple focuses on the user experience, and that's been one of Linux's biggest weaknesses on the desktop.  Web browsing is such a large percentage of what people do with computers today.  So to say that Linux KDE desktops ship with Apple's browser makes it much more difficult to argue that Linux isn't ready for newbies.
