Sheer Unmitigated Gall BBC - Voice of the Music Industry. Piracy 'threatens 600,000 jobs'. Music piracy could put the jobs of 600,000 people at risk if the music industry does not beat the problems, executives are told. [BBC News] [jenett.radio]
It may be true that file sharing threatens 600,000 record industry jobs. But that's entirely the fault of the record industry itself. Cassette player manufacturers couldn't ignore CDs. They got into the CD player business. When the steam locomotive was replaced by electric engines, coal suppliers didn't sit on their hands, they diversified. Because progress is inevitable, markets change, and no corporation has a right to their business model.
What makes the record industry think they're any different? The audacity. The sheer, unmitigated gall. 1:06:28 AM
