The first layer of polyurethane is down. I still have the stairs themselves to do, but with most projects, that is going to be a longer process than I'd imagined.
That first coat brings out all the beauty, all the imperfections. Magnified.
But even the worn spots, even the gouges I've made, they're all part of the character now, all part of the beauty, overall. Accepting that means knowing how to love. Not forgive, or tolerate, but love.
If only it were as easy and clear with humans.
The wood doesn't try to hide or highlight any warts or beauty marks. It just shines, ready to be loved.
