If anyone didn't think Swedes were conservative, Rickard's coder bachelor party provides the proof. Where is the stripper going to stand in this picture?

My BlogStreet page is weird. I'm running at about 500 out of ~10000 blogs, which is good I guess. But I don't understand how the page is calculated (and didn't have time to do anymore digging). More investigation needed.

Russell has some cool thoughts on Velocity and Struts. I'm not sure I agree with his conclusions (the JSP/Tags version using Struts is so bloated! WebWork would make this look soo much nicer ) but the thing people keep telling me about Velocity is how fast it is. And I know it integrates with both Webwork and "SiteMesh". I'm going to have to investigate using it more heavily for presentation layer stuff. At the moment we only use Velocity to generate email bodies.

Michael B. Allen has released jCIFS 0.7.0b2,an SMB client library written in pure Java. It supports Unicode, named pipes, batching, multiplexing I/O of threaded callers, encrypted authentication, full transactions, domain/workgroup/host/share/file enumeration, NetBIOS sockets and name services, the smb:// URL protocol handler, RAP calls, and more. The API is similar to java.io.File . This release simplifies theNTLM HTTP Authentication interface, adds a Network Explorer-like file browser servlet, and can read files larger than 4GB. jCIFS is published under the LGPL. [Cafe Au Lait] Cool!

JPublish 1.2 Released. JPublish is an open source web publishing framework which merges the Velocity template engine from the Jakarta Apache group with a content repository and application control framework. Like all good web frameworks, JPublish provides a clean separation of code, content, and layout.
It seems to be like a Java developer's CMS. It doesn't try to be all things to all people, but is easy to build on and extend.

Mac OS X 10.2 "Jaguar" Reviews Pour In - there's a bunch of OSX 10.2 reviews, all linked from this Slashdot post and all quite positive. Personally I don't mind paying the $$ for this upgrade, as it seems to be worthwhile and I can see the benefits clearly. Can anyone remember what Windows 98 gave you over Windows 95? I think not.
Some of the reviews are a little over the top though, how about this from the New York Times:
But if you're the kind of person who gets satisfaction from, say, the hushed thump of a Lexus car door closing, it's the little things in Jaguar, the grace notes, that may mean the most in everyday work.
or this one:
Even so, Mac OS X 10.2 is the best-looking, least-intrusive and most thoughtfully designed operating system walking the earth today.
I'd hasten to debate it would be the only walking operating system - but that's because I can be a cynical wanker at times
PS My only other question is, how do you say OSX 10.2? Do we say "Oh Ess Ex, Ten Point Two" ? That's a pain in the ass. Anyway, small quible.
PPS Has anyone noticed the proliferation of X as a meaningless acronym in technology product names recently? MMX, XP, MX, OSX... I think clearly IBM were years ahead of their time when they called the second PC the PC-XT.
