Jason has written a good review of JRun 4.0 on The ServerSide. I'm still not sure I consider $900/CPU good value, but Macromedia products are always solid. He also plugs JIRA as his bug tracking solution of choice at the end of the review - thanks mate, cheque is in the mail

I found Gordon's blog today (through my referers) - looks very interesting. He like the "EJB is not always necessary" article.
His thoughts on why people always choose EJB? "Probably because it's easier than thinking." Agreed.

Rick wants to know about JSF and Webwork. It's inevitable that there will be a heavy tie-in between the two. Patrick already pondered on the weekend about pulling the UI tags OUT of WW and putting them into Formtags, and then having Formtags support JSF as one of the options (as well as Velocity and other things). I'm not sure about this idea, but we'll see.
Has anyone seen an example of JSF in action? I can only find the spec. I find reading specs is very boring and hard to grasp.

Mike may be drunk with regards to UI, but at least he recognises a good IDE when he sees one:
So IntelliJ IDEA just keeps getting better. I just upgraded to Build 642 (My first Java 1.4 attempt), and it has some new refactorings (replace inheritance with delegation, replace constructor with factory method), apart from anything else. They've also started a Wiki site for discussion at http://www.intellij.org/. Perforce plugins here we come! [transMorphic]
I like it when smart people come to the same conslusions I do. It's a form of re-inforced self validation I suppose.

Big call of the day:
One of the things I like is that the Moz UI is certainly on the same lines as Mac OS X - aesthetically pleasing, and works well.
Are you using the same Mozilla I do? The UI sucks. It's slow, widgets are non-standard, it can be inconsistent as skin designers try to look 'cool'. Like OSX? Gah! [transMorphic]

The Java bloggers are whinging about kids. You see at the moment I'm doing this the smart way - I have nieces. It's like hiring strategic contractors - when the day is over, you can give them back.

Roller 0.9.5 Released - new features include better URLs, support for hsqldb and PostgreSQL, file upload import and more. It's good for the Java world to have a solid blog alternative, I hope for more great things from Roller!
