He Likes it! Mikey Likes it!. Rick seems glad that I like JCS. I was nattering to Matt from Jive over AIM yesterday, and he strongly recommended Tangosol's Coherence over JCS. I had looked at Coherence a while ago and wasn't that amazed. (Who hasn't seen Cameron Purdy's signature all over The ServerSide?) But looking over the docs (and in comparison to JCS), it suddenly becomes clear just how cool it is. Distributed caching that automatically locates, fails over etc. Concurrent or not (with obvious speed tradeoffs) and even a cache with different sections distributed to different JVMs (to reduce memory load or the pain of a JVM falling over). Seriously wicked stuff folks. The only thing I can't find is whether they can 'spill over' the cache to disk if it exceeds a certain size. [Rick Salsa] 3:03:59 PM  comment []
