One did love Scotty. That one time when he was love rivals with the Greek god Apollo, that was a good one. And he sure could fix a ship.

Troublemaker has a press release from a purported Klan leader who says he eschews violence and rues the deaths in Greensboro. Google turns up not much at all on this guy. We don't know how big and active and representative his group is of the larger Klan. I would go slow on declaring a new day for the Klan based on this document alone.

City Council meeting recap by a participant, Sandy Carmany, including a "common-sense solution to a thorny issue" of funding for the Randlemen Lake pumping station and distribution lines. Plus, better ways to throw out your computer, an interim City Manager, and the price of being dead.

More Carmany: regional development. "While individual groups have previously discussed bits and pieces of this proposal to plan for coordinated growth and development of the 50,000+ acres of land in the western Guilford County/eastern Forsyth County area, this is the first time I remember all these players being in the same room at the same time."

As I note every year on this day...July 20 is the celebration day of the prophet Elijah in the Catholic and Orthodox churches, and also the birth day of Elijah Cone; we did not know the first part when we named our beloved son.

Ron Bailey reports from the Creationism conference at Liberty University. "The creationists here at the Mega-Conference make it crystal clear that they are no namby-pamby Discovery Institute intelligent designers nor are they mere progressive evolutionists. As David Dewitt, associate professor of biology and head of the Creation Studies Center at Liberty University succinctly explains, 'We believe that Adam and Eve were real people and that God created everything in six 24 hour days.'"

Fascinating read. More to come.
