Went fishing on Square Lake tonight with Rick, supervisor, canoe nut, famous wag and gadabout.  I only caught one fish, a decent sized bluegill.  If I had caught a few more, I would have kept them, but we let this one go.  Square Lake is famous for its clear, clean water and trout fishing.  We saw a huge snapping turtle swim under the canoe.  Rick is always running into people he knows and tonight he started telling some guy out sitting on his dock that he wanted to fish right where his kids were swimming.  We kept canoeing closer and closer to him and his odd people radar started buzzing.  Finally Rick introduced himself. Turns out he and Rick met on some drunken businessman weekend years ago.  This guy owned a house the size of the Mall of America.  I kept staring up at it trying to process what I was seeing.

On the way home, I decided to stop in Stillwater and buy a can of corn to fish in the St. Croix for carp.  I didn't have an opener so I opened it by banging it in the bed door of my pickup truck while people watched from the balcony of the Lumber Baron Hotel.  They must have thought I was freakin nuts..  I don't recommend this method for food you plan to eat.  Didn't catch any carp anyway.
