Here's a PDF of FCC Chairman Michael Powell's position on media deregulation. I think it's incredibly lame. A deregulatory trend has been going on since the Telecom Act of 1996, which in my opinion was a failure.
The Telecom Act has led to a radio industry lacking in quality and diversity, as well as handing us a huge depression in the telecom industry. I used to work for Winstar and Worldcom. Both went bankrupt. Thousands of jobs were destroyed. Employees and investors were cheated.
The FCC Chairman's ideas are completely old-school. The objective of this administration is to return the USA to a Pre-Roosevelt era and pretend that the lessons of last 80 years never occurred. May God have mercy on their souls.
