Howard Dean Campaign in Phoenix
From the Road: Phoenix, Arizona. I'm sorry that I'm behind on keeping you updated on what we're doing on the road, but our scheduling office (yes, I mean you, Sarah, Matt, and Stephen) has been keeping us too busy!
Right now we're in Phoenix, Arizona, but yesterday we were in Cincinnati, Ohio and Washington, DC. The Gov. was in Cincinnati to speak to a labor group. As usual, he was greeted by a group of sign waving supporters. They even had a person playing "Hail to the Chief" on a trumpet! After Ohio we flew to Washington, DC where the Gov. took part in a candidates forum sponsored by NOW. It was one of the most enthusiastic crowds I've ever seen. (Thanks Kathy for making sure the Gov. got where he needed to be and for reading the blog!)
We got up very early this morning so the Gov. could squeeze in an interview on the Today Show before getting on a plane to Flagstaff.
We've had a fun time in Arizona - however it is very HOT here! In one day we've been in Flagstaff, Tucson and Phoenix. It was a cool 111 degrees in Tucson! In Flagstaff the Gov. spoke at the Cononino County Democratic Party picnic. We got to meet not only the Flagstaff Meet Up group (I've sent a picture to Matt), but we also got to meet a frequent poster on the blog - Erin!
I don't want to take anything away from the events in Flagstaff or Phoenix, but the big news of the day came out of Tucson where over 2,000 people attended a rally for Gov. Dean. Even though the crowds keep getting larger and larger we still are amazed everytime we see a big crowd! The Gov. was totally blown away when he walked into the room!
(The Gov. just spoke at the Arizona Democratic Party dinner in Phoenix. I am sitting by the exit door. A couple just walked by me - they don't know who I am - and said to each other, "I hope he's the next President." "Well, he sure the fire in the belly!") I guess I'm sitting in the right spot!
Tomorrow we get up very, very early (thanks again to Sarah, Stephen and Matt!) and fly to Texas where we'll spend the day in Houston, Dallas, and Austin. It will be fun to visit the President's home state! [Blog for America]
