100 things about me

"A person should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful that God has implanted in the human soul." - Goethe

Censorship

Just came across a most interesting site on censorship.  Which brings to mind Bill O'Reilly's rant against Amazon's selling of what he considers a book for pedophiles.  Although O'Reilly is not in favor of censorship, he is asking that Amazon pull the book from it's list of titles as a "business decision".  When reading the list of books that have been censored over the years, the logic behind those decisions seems so very foolish in hindsight...(ie. censoring Little Red Riding Hood ??)  Think I'll bookmark this page and do a little reading myself later...

The Exorcist

We watched The Exorcist on tv last night.  Every time I watch that movie, I see something I've missed before, and it still scares the pee outta me!  Didn't watch it all, because it got late, and we got sleepy, but the one scene that made my skin crawl was Regan crawling down the stairs upside down like some insect with blood dripping out of her mouth.....my god that was creepy.  Then we got into a discussion of whether there is a factual base for the movie.  Scott googled it first thing this morning, and I learned the book was based on an actual case of a  13-yr. old boy.  There are supposedly diaries which exist written by the exorcist himself backing up the case.  I remember the first time I saw the movie - at the local drive-in theatre with a friend and her mom.  It was and still is the scariest movie I've ever seen.

Sunday morning musings

I've spent the better part of the morning checking out other blogs, and it never ceases to amaze me how much time some people actually put into it.  When I started this blog, my intention was to use it as a diary - writing daily about ordinary things going on in my life.  It hasn't gotten to that point yet, and it seems I've spent the majority of my time on the layout.  I'm almost satisfied with it now.  Maybe I should just stop tweaking it, and start putting it to use  :)
