No word yet from the Alabama 3 - I've sent an email to an intuitive email address, i.e. one I reckon they have - if it doesn't bounce back to me I'll know it's landed and then we'll watch again for a response to Janis Ian's article. Subversion requires a degree of persistence.

EU calls for open source e-government. And why not [The Register]
And it seems that Ireland is top of the EU league for egovernment development - I'm dumbfounded. Have they developed an electronic brown paper envelope tool or something?

I forgot to link to where you can download Active Renderer. It's by a guy called Marc Barrot - Precision IT Inc - and a team of 7 others, based somewhere in France. Must find out where, maybe they're neighbours!

All fixed I think. Had an email this morning from Miriam saying she likes the site but wasn't able to read any of my stories. Miriam isn't very au fait with the whole Internet thing and naturally assumed that it was her fault. I would have quite happily gone along with that theory but I had a quick peek just in case and, woe is me, all the links were broken. This coincided with the installation of the cool, ActiveRendering outlining plug-in, available in the tools section. I'm about as au fait with scripting as Miriam is with the Internet - so Kev had to be called upon. Now it's all fixed but I'm not quite sure what went wrong. We'll have to do a post-mortem but I think it could have occured because I didn't edit internal folders when I activated the outlining feature that provides the funky layout of the information on this page. I'm not sure but I'm very glad it's fixed.
I had wanted to spend time today writing about the festival we were at over the weekend - pretty good fun - the programme's at http://www.aufoindelarue.fr.st - gives you a notion of the music but that's only half the story. More later hopefully.

things are breaking - my navigator macro isn't working properly - think it's got something to do with the active renderer. Aargh.

As good as my word - I've been to the Alabama 3 site and posted a message in their guest book asking them if they're going to speak out. I wonder if I'll get a personal response to that?

On Adam Curry's blog he starts the day with a good morning, hallelujah on the Janis Ian story. It's working around the Web like wildfire and now they're all at it - Michael Jackson, George Michael, who's next. After I signed Janis Ian's guest book in support she replied personally, thanking my for my support and saying she's overwhelmed by the positive response to the article. Today I'm going to find the time to go to the Alabama Three Website (my all time favourite band) and mail them a suggestion that they also speak out.
