From the New York Times: Microsoft Moves to Stengthen Its Position in Digital Media. Microsoft has lowered the price of licensing its Windows Media technologies to 50 cents per device, less than the typical licensing fees for MPEG4 video. The consumer electronics market is more sensitive to cost than say the multi-thousand dollar per device pro photography market, so I would expect a number of announcements at CES involving small devices using Windows Media codecs.

Purpose
VRlog provides news, developments and analysis of the virtual reality (VR) world from a nature photographer's perspective. Since I am not connected to or funded by any VR vendor, I intend to objectively appraise what's going on, and the direction VR is headed in. -- erik goetze
