ISO and the UN While giving some info to a Birch member who is working to enlighten Congressman Walter Jones regarding the ISO certification of our Cherry Point military base, I stumbled across this latest press release on ISO from Kofi Annan. Congressman Jones (NC-3rd) is not a friend of the UN and pledges to get the ISO people out of the Cherry Point Naval Air Depot if he deems them to really be a close affiliate of the UN. By the way: Guilford County Schools is one of only a few in the nation and the first in North Carolina to get themselves certified to the ISO 9001 global standard. This intense regimen of quality and management system review however did not help them avoid their recent bus hub fiasco. 8:05:50 AM![]() |
NYT: "Scoop - Medical Workers Draft!" If you thought the NYT couldn't sink any further in the manipulation of the facts, today they have broken the story of a "confidential report this summer" that details contingency plans for a draft of medical workers. The on-line International Hearld Tribune edition of this story calls it a "Secret Plan." Sorry guys, but this is way old news that you could have read on blogs, even this backwater one, almost a year ago. And, I might addthat most of the details of "(this summer's) confidential report" revealed by NYT reporter Richard Pear were freely available since last November in the on-line newsletter of our Selective Service System (page 6 of the .pdf file). At best this is poor reporting. But more likely it is blatant hype for the Kerry campaign masquerading as "news." (thanks to today's antiwar.com for highlighting the NYT story) 7:47:50 AM![]() |
