Senator Wellstone's Death a Terrible Tragedy
I was struck with grief after hearing about the death of Minnesota Senator Wellstone and his family's death in an airplane crash today in Minnesota. For those not familar with Paul Wellstone, he is certainly one of the heros of modern day politics and democratic ideals. A passionate and compassionate person, who always voted and acted with his convictions, Paul Wellstone was one of the last remaining authentic leaders in America. Whether one agrees with his progressive politics, this loss is a real loss for American politics, which has become increasingly narrow in its political ideology, and certainly not representative of principles of democracy.
