Astronomical Surface Decorations on Ceramics, Mesopotamia, part I

Well, the research on Egypt didn't pan out...so on to Mesopotamia; Assyria, Babylonia, and Sumer.

Bingo...the Astronomers of Babylonia recorded their observations on clay.

Looks like astronomical information was a closely held secret-

"Secret tablet of Heaven, exclusive knowledge of the great gods, not for distribution! He may teach it to the son he loves...

So we've done a bit of research into cuneiforms before  It is a mode of information that I find very interesting (naturally!)

A quick search does not show any cuneiforms in a more decorative setting, mostly on tablets.  Further, I was really thinking of star maps in a more graphical sense.

However,
Mesopotamia looks most promising!
