Astronomical Surface Decorations on Ceramics, Mesopotamia, part I Well, the research on Egypt didn't pan out...so on to Mesopotamia; Assyria, Babylonia, and Sumer. Bingo...the Astronomers of Babylonia recorded their observations on clay. 'Secret Knowledge' tablet So we've done a bit of research into cuneiforms before  It is a mode of information that I find very interesting (naturally!) A quick search does not show any cuneiforms in a more decorative setting, mostly on tablets.  Further, I was really thinking of star maps in a more graphical sense.
