Astronomical Surface Decorations on Ceramics, Indonesia part I After yesterday's attempt to find Korean examples, I think it is time to move on. Next on our list of Astronomical Civilizations is Indonesia. Indonesia can trace its roots in the study of astronomy at least as far back as Ptolemy of Alexandria (87-150 AD) when he wrote that they had advanced astronomy. While I can find a few examples of Indonesian pottery on the Internet, it is difficult to get a history of indigenous ceramic art.
