Indian Summer

We have had the most amazing weather around here the last couple of days. Warm, sunny and yet with all of the fall colors in full bloom, so to speak. Yesterday my wife and I decided to take a little impromptu drive with no plans to accomplish anything. We ended up in the funky little town of Woodstock, NY. It's a most peaceful little village with shops and art galleries and just an overall vibe that relaxes the soul. I spent some time just sitting on a bench in the village green will my wife was shopping. There's a lot of characters to see roaming around the town, but for all their strangeness, I still felt very much at ease. There was a flea market going on (I get the feeling the whole town is a flea market 24/7) and I spied out on "vendor" who was selling very artistically made bongs and hash pipes. I considered buying a bong as a conversation piece, but then I thought, what kind of example would I be setting for my son. An object like that is meant to be used, not sit gathering dust on the mantle. Anyway, we ended the day sitting outside on the patio of a place whose name escapes me enjoying some Redtail Ale from Saratoga.

My son and a friend were up in Salem this weekend. Maybe they ran into Chuck and Lauren.

Friday night I went out fishing for stripers (that's striped bass, not strippers) in Raritan Bay and Lower New York Bay. Maybe I'll write about that later, as well as my latest exploits with my Nigerian pals. It's too beautiful out right now to be inside blogging (gotta get WiFi) so I'm popping open a cold Dos Equis and heading out on the deck. See ya'll later.
