I had left off last week by telling Johnson's partner that I was going off to "entertain" a client a the local watering hole:

Unfortunately today I have to entertain an important client of mine and that will be during most of the day. (He is very fond of the local ale at our pub, The Three Feathers, so I can see me spending a long lunch with him there.)
So I won't be able to do anything about the transfer by Western Union until Monday morning as the nearest office of WU is about half an hour from here.
