According to this article, multitasking is less efficient than single tasking, and reduces the energy that the brain has available for completing each task. This isn't really a surprising result (especially if you understand how multitasking works in an operating system), but it's nice to have my experience backed up with actual studies. I wonder whether it is possible that associated adrenaline rush that the article mentions could explain my desire to multitask. It takes real effort for me to keep my train of thought on one track.
