GNE is so neato.

Game Neverending is a neat little piece of code, and they've even made a badge for me!

Monday Morning Links...

This morning's group of links is provided by the Number 9, the Letter Q and NetNewsWire Pro Public Beta 1.

Canonical List of 'Twas the Night Before parodies.

Wired News has a story this morning on the ascendance of blogs into the consciousness of American Media, and pretty much gives them credit for the takedown of Trent Lott. Scroll to the bottom of the article, and you've got a quote from a "journalism" professor at USC who calls blogging nothing but "navelgazing". I'm sorry, Dr. Osder, but my ability to express myself is part of A) my individuality, and B) my expertise. Calling me unqualified to have an opinion about everything is pretty damn arrogant, who the hell are you to claim I'm not an expert about my own life?

Yes, I will admit, this website, and the LiveJournal that preceeded it were borne of a desire to further my own self-expression in a quasi-public medium, but don't I get an opinion too? And since when do journalists get it right? I'm not so sure that journalists can have the monopoly on the truth, especially that when on both sides of the political aisle, biases are common. So Bite Me. And I'll continue to blog now, thank you.

Wired News also has a followup on the Australian Libel Suit Story (which I covered last week here and got quoted by the Washington Post here) Apparently some folks in The Hague want to make it possible to sue people across international lines for libel, etc, and have it stick by making their home country prosecute them for laws created elsewhere.

I only wish that I was making this up. However, I do agree with Mr. Weinstein's assesement: "The Net has made the world smaller in many ways, but we are still a planet of individual nations with differing points of view. Trying to force those views on each other internationally through court actions is a recipe for chaos." Now we just need to stand up for our own rights, created by the document that established the rule of law in America. Not by the one that established society in China, or Australia or Switzerland or Italy. Here. Because this is where I get to vote.

Linksys is apparently planning an amplifier for your wireless network. Oh bring this ON! I would really love to amplify my wireless net in my cul de sac and then upgrade to the fat-pipe version of my DSL. Wouldn't that just Rock? Backyard surfing. Need I say more?

Waiting...

I realize that one of the big differences between a Radio Weblog and LiveJournal is the lack of a deep, integrated built-in community with Radio. Most Radio users that I've found share a common URL and that's mostly it. One of the things I loved about my LJ is how easy it was to discover other people writing about similar things, through their community tags. Not too hard. Radio's different, Blogs are different. I look at my front page here and I see a few things different than my journal's front page, the first of which is that no one comments on my posts here. I'm still trying to figure out why.

I feel like I'm waiting to go on stage, so all I can do is rehearse in the dark, hoping someone might really be reading this. Silly, yes?
